BLOG NOTE: This is some pretty good shit…video gave me some goose bump action….fuck all that camping in the woods bullshit.

My buddy bought a house last summer. I won’t say where exactly it is to protect the identity, but its in the backwoods of VT, miles from any small town even.

over the winter he would often find wildlife in his yard, deer, moose, coy dogs, etc. and he would occasionally hear the crys and howls. pretty normal stuff for vermont woods. but sometimes he heard really, really, odd things. He would tell me about them waking him and his wife up at night but i always just told him thats what he gets for living out in the woods. wildlife can be loud. he always insisted it was more than that, but i never paid attention.

that is until one night a bunch of us were out there watching a movie and we heard it. a very odd noise… and by odd i mean blood curdling inhuman… screams? i guess thats the best way to describe it. but with emphesis on inhuman, as it really didn’t sound anything like a human screaming. it wasn’t as high pitched and seemed to have multiple layers to it, like more than one voice. (i was a music major, im very good at picking out tones and intervals in sounds. i could tell you which notes are played and how many different ones there are in every car horn.) it sounded very, very close and you could almost feel it vibrating the house. we were all freaked out, but there was no way we were going out there to do anything about it. anyways, we just kind of ignored it and went back to the movie and ate junk food and by the time the night was over we all forgot about it and we went home.

the next day my buddy calls me up and tells me there are tracks all over his backyard. and not really tracks as much as snow just being thrown around like there was a fight or something. there were no actual footprints he could find, but he did notice somewhat of a path made out heading into the woods. so my buddy got brave and ventured into the woods a bit in his snow shoes. he didnt get too far until he started seeing blood. everywhere. he looked around a little bit and saw a dead deer, literally torn apart in the snow. it didnt look like it was really eaten or anything, just ripped apart. one leg completely missing, other just kind of dangling by flesh. gruesome stuff.

Now here’s the really creepy part… and i don’t know if this is just my buddy’s mind going crazy or if he’s playing a joke on us or what, but behind the corpse there were broken pine branches stuck straight up in the snow. like, they were deliberately placed there. almost like a shrine or a tombstone made of branches. needless to say, my buddy wised up and got the hell out of dodge and hasnt returned. But of course he didnt have his camera on him to prove it, not that he would have wanted to stick around long enough to take pictures anyways.

as winter wore on he would still hear the noises fairly often in the woods. sometimes at night, less often during the day. He’s asked around and no one can really tell him what it could be, but maybe he just isnt describing it very well.

OK, fast forward to now. his property doesnt really go too far back, just a few acres, but there are literally no other houses around and there is this pretty cool mountain that we want to hike and camp out on. We are a bit concerned with whatever “animal” is out there, so we are bringing a gun. honestly though, I’ve camped out on a lot of the mountains around here and have never run into any problems, but the whole branch shrine thing really freaks me out as that would obviously not be done by an animal.

So tomorrow night is the night we are going to hike up there and camp out. I am bring a camera. someone else is bringing the gun (i hate guns and will avoid being around it, but we all know how to use one in case it warrents it). if anything strange happens i will do my best to capture it on camera and come back to post here. (assuming i come back, haha…)

In the mean time, any advice you guys would have for me? have you ever heard of anything like this happening? is there some crazy backwoods cult or folklore that i havent heard about? I’m going to bed now, but let me know and I’ll be checking this space tomorrow during work. I’ll also try to answer any questions you have.

tl;dr: something lives in the mountains where my buddies and i are camping. it kills things annd then builds branch shrines to them.

*EDIT: i appreciate all the feedback guys! heres the thing, we are doing this mostly for fun. we arent going to actively look for whatever it is thats out there. so we arent going to take fancy A/V equipment or any high tech web stuff. I am bringing a small camera that I’ve always had good luck with in capturing things in low light. *

*EDIT 2: We made it back. Some pretty weird stuff happened while we were up there. I didn’t really feel threatened at any point. we heard the noise. i tried to get it on tape but my batteries kept inexplicably dying, even after i replaced the battery with a fresh one. i managed to capture some of it though. also worth noting, we found some weird radio station signal. it kind of sounded like the beeps you get before the emergency broadcast system announces something on tv or the radio. There was also a new sound, it sounded kind of like a child yelling, but we passed it off as some some kind of weird bird. Lastly, we found some old bones. pretty small though. I will make a new submission for the video and also link it from here. *

So we made it up the mountain. we followed an old logging trail that quickly disappeared as we started to climb. there was no path whatsoever once we started our ascent and the terrain was the roughest id ever experienced while backpacking. there were some parts we literally had to get on our hands and knees to climb.

we found an old campfire pit near a cliff that we decided to set camp by. the whole night was actually quite fun and we made light of our situation by joking about the monster the whole time and playing drinking games. we left the gun at home, as guns and alcohol dont mix and we werent going to let a monster ruin our fun. we all did sleep with our knives though.

OK, now for the creepy things:

• we found bone fragments around our campsite.

• we found a ghost radio station. i say ghost station because we found this weird signal on an AM frequency and it disappeared later in the night.

• all our electronic devices kept saying the batteries were dead and shutting off at weird times. you’ll see in the video i shot that the camera keeps turning off. in the morning all our devices were fine.

• we heard what sounded like a kid yelling in the woods. i didnt get footage of it, but we all decided it was probably just some bird anyways.

• yes, we captured the sound. it happened around midnight. you’ll see in the footage it happens but the camera dies. but it happened a second time and i managed to catch a second of it, but the camera then died for good. the first scream sounded pretty far away, the second one was definitely closer.

This is all stuff you’ll see in the videos. as for stuff that wasnt in the videos, well when we all finally went to bed i swear i heard voices in the woods. i was too scared to investigate and my camera stopped working anyways. thats about it. check out the videos and let me know what you think. the first video is mostly our journey to the campsite and getting settled. the weird stuff happens right at the next video. the most intriguing thing i found was the radio signal. it sounded like an emergency broadcast, but no instructions or voice ever came. weird. so check out the videos everyone, let me know what you think.

EDIT: i did some research on the radio signal. i think it might actually be whats called a numbers station. that would explain why it was broadcasting a loop and then disappeared. Can anyone else deduce anything from the signal? despite capturing the scream, im actually most fascinated by this signal.

EDIT 2: farkas identified the radio signal as an SSTV broadcast. After listening to others from youtube, i think i agree with him. does anyone have a decoder that can translate the signal into an image? come on reddit! you’re help would be greatly appreciated! we have a mystery to solve!

NOTE: When i was younger, i used to wake up in the middle of the night absolutely hysterical…..i would cry and pace around the room, i would dream of people hovering over me laughing…they would laugh and laugh and then eventually the laughter would become distorted and ugly..then i would usually get sick to my stomach and vomit..One time my little sister was talking t me about her dreams and she told me that she used to dream about people laughing at her….and it was a scary laughter….it was a creepy moment her and i shared because the more we discussed it we realized we had a very similar dream…if not the same dream…

Night Terrors are believed by most to be simply a sleeping disorder. Basically, what they are is a person in the deepest level of sleep, that suddenly wakes up in the middle of the night, usually jumping into an upright position in bed and screaming. The individual will be be filled with fear and shock. In many of these cases those that suffer from night terrors will not remember what it was that they dreamed of or what it was that frightened them. Many will not even remember waking up in the middle of the night. Night terrors mostly happen to the very young children between the ages of 2 and 6 years old but can happen to anyone, at any time, at any age.

There is not a whole lot that is understood about night terrors at this point in time. It is because the child is in the deepest stage of sleep that causes them to be unable to remember what it was they experienced that frightened them. When arising from a night terror however, the victim will sometimes see what their doctors will call hallucinations, but may in fact be spiritual apparitions. These apparitions have been of human figures, animals, and other things of a frighting nature.

Apparitions taking place right after a night terror is one of the clues that might link Night Terrors to being supernaturally induced. People usually see apparitions in spiritually connected places and incidents such as haunted buildings, grave yards, battles fields, at ones death bed, seances, and so on. It is true also that they can be seen in other places as well but it’s much less common. Secondly, It seems strange that most night terrors happen to young children. It is believed by many that children are able to see ghosts and other spiritual beings much easier, and more often that adults do. The older the child gets, the more that ability fades away, just as night terrors do. Doesn’t it make sense that the younger a child is, the more likely he or she is of having spiritual attacks like what might be a Night Terror? It also seems to make sense that those very rare adults that suffer from night terrors may also be those adults that were fortunate not to lose their spiritual sensitivity unlike most of us.

It wasn’t until recently that I discovered what night terrors were. This past semester I was doing a research paper on parapsychology for school and I had to some research by talking to other students about what they thought of the paranormal. The following story is what was told to me by one of my classmates. She had told me that her son, her brother, and her youngest brother in law, all experienced night terrors around the age of 5. They are all different ages so these night terrors happened at different years for each of them. What she told me next was what really caught my attention and the suspicion that night terrors may be induced by an outside, paranormal force in some incidents. Each one of them described to her seeing a man with white hair, “yucky teeth” as they described them, and would carry a knife as he chased them. Not one knew what the other has said to her. It seems more than coincidental that 3 males of all different ages, when at the age of five years old would see the exact same entity during their night terrors.

If Night Terrors are in fact paranormal and are induced by spiritual entities, they are surely negative spirits I would think. They target the young because their minds are the easiest to connect with due to their sensitivity, and perhaps it is also because they are the easiest to frighten which seems to be the purpose of a Night Terror. I strongly believe that night terrors should be given more attention because they might be much more than we have been told to believe. If you have children that suffer from night terrors don’t be worried, they are harmless to the child according to the research that I have done. Most children will not even remember having them. The good news is that they will outgrow them in time. They may however be caused by exhaustion, and not having a regular sleeping routine, again, according to the research I have done. I just believe that perhaps a portion of night terrors may be caused by something else besides mother nature and we should not overlook that possibility. If you have strong suspicions that your child’s night terrors are spiritually related it might be a good idea to perform a simple cleansing ritual or even simply praying over your child before her or she goes to sleep. What do you all think?

CREEPY CLOWN

There were three boys who loved watching horror movies. One day, one of the boys received a parcel in the mail. There were no stamps on the mysterious package and no name or address was written on the front. The boy had no idea who it was from. When he opened the parcel, he found a DVD inside. There was no cover on the case and no title on the disc. He thought his friends might be playing a joke on him, so he took the DVD and went out to meet the other boys. 

When he arrived at their house, he asked them about the mysterious DVD, but they said they had nothing to do with it. They invited him inside to watch it and see what was on it. When they sat down on the sofa and pressed play on the DVD player, they were surprised at what they saw on the screen.

There was a creepy clown standing in a room. There was a bed on his left and a closet on his right. He was holding two red balloons and staring into the camera. Then, some weird music started playing and the clown began dancing and jumping around. He was jerking and shaking his body all around the room. All the while, his clown face was fixed in a wide, menacing grin. He looked insane and his behavior was bizarre. Two of the boys thought it was hilarious and started laughing out loud.

After a while, they noticed that the third boy was very quiet. When they turned to look at him, they could see that his face was white as a sheet and his eyes were wide in terror.

“What’s the matter with you?” they asked. “Why aren’t you laughing?”

The boy replied in a weal voice, “That’s my bedroom…”

Fallout 3 contains several in-game radio stations. The most diverse and important station is Galaxy News Radio.

Many players of the evil persuasion know that you can kill Three Dog and he will be replaced by the technician Margaret. She is not a charismatic person and has very little it say, seeming to not enjoy her new announcing duties. She also never appears in person, and therefore cannot be killed. Once Three Dog is dead, you’re stuck with Margaret.

What most players do NOT know is that under certain circumstances, GNR will become a “numbers station.” A numbers station is a station that broadcasts an unusual coded message. Many of these exist in real life and some hypothesize that they are a nuclear retaliation control network. Simply check Wikipedia for more information about these odd broadcasts as they relate to the real world. Back to Fallout 3…

No one is really sure which actions are needed to hear the numbers station in Fallout 3. It appears that you must kill Three Dog, because no one has reported hearing the numbers station with him still alive. It also appears that you have to skip over the quest “Galaxy News Radio” where you help boost the signal so that the station can be broadcast further than just the immediate DC area. This is easy enough to do with either a speech check or simply using the FalloutWiki to look up where to go next and advance the main plot. Finally, you definitely have to destroy Raven Rock. This is the actual trigger to turn GNR into a numbers station, and it will remain such for the rest of the game. However, the vast majority of the players who perform these three actions still continue hearing the standard GNR broadcasts, so there must be several more requirements the community has yet to isolate.

If you’re lucky enough to have hit upon the right set of circumstances, just after destroying Raven Rock, you will get the message, “Radio signal lost” and a few seconds later, “Radio signal found.” You cannot, however, actually listen to GNR just yet because you didn’t boost the signal and are out of range of the broadcast at the exit of Raven Rock. Luckily, Raven Rock is situated in the mountains and is right near one of the few places outside DC that you can get high enough to catch the signal. So far, the confirmed location to hear the GNR numbers signal are:

1. Within the immediate DC area obviously…this is true for the regular GNR throughout the game.
2. At the top of the ferris wheel at point lookout
3. On the tops of some of the satcom arrays you can climb in the northwestern map area.
4. On the roof of Tenpenny Tower, though this may be within normal broadcast range anyway. Feel free to playtest and get back to me on this.
5. On the highest point of the broken bridge around Arefu…again, may be within braodcast range anyway.
6. On some of the highest points of the mountain tops in the area near Raven Rock. This is obviously your easiest chance to first listen to the numbers station.

When you tune in, you will hear an old familiar voice…Three Dog, despite the fact that you killed him earlier. However, you will quickly notice that he does not seem to be “in character.” So I guess it’s not technically Three Dog, but just the voice actor, Erik Dellums. He reads a series of numbers in a monotone, depressed sounding voice. He always recites a list of single digits between 9 and 12 characters long. For example, “nine-three-seven-nine-one-seven-two-zero-three-four.” Hever never uses a multi-digit number like “eleven” or “forty.” These numbers are followed by widely varying lengths of Morse code. This is then followed by the song “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.” All other music tracks seem to be inactive on the numbers station.

The Morse code was the easiest part of the mystery to crack, as the code is widely available and many people actually know it by heart. We quickly had a list of a great number of messages in English. Some sounded completely mundane and even comical, such as “Washed the car today, maybe Chinese for dinner.” or “Have you watched my YouTube video yet, I uploaded myself kicking bums in the nuts.”

You may be saying, “But wait, YouTube doesn’t exist in the Fallout universe,” and you are right. As far as we could tell, all of the messages sounded like they were based in our reality somewhere near present day.

Some of the messages, however, are quite sinister, such as, “The Queen has died today. The world mourns, as on days like these, we are all Brits.” or “I can’t believe they’re actually done it. Not long left. The noise. I can’t take the noise anymore. I have a pistol in the attic.”

Just recently, a player on the wikiforums noticed a message that brought to light the meaning of the messages. He was reading a thread that collected all known messages, transposed from Morse to English, and saw the line, “one-two-zero-five-five-two-eight-two-zero-one-zero. What are you talkin’ about? You’ll be missed.” He realized this referred to the recent death of Gary Coleman, and the quickly realized the numbers were the time and date of death. He immediately scanned through the messages to try and find more examples of this apparent future telling by a game that’s more than a year old. The next message he read shocked him and pushed him to enlist the aid of the others to decipher the codes. The message was “nine-four-five-four-two-zero-two-zero-one-zero. Accident in the gulf, several dead. Oil spill apparently averted.” He realized this was the BP explosion and the erroneous day-one assessment that the well was not leaking.

From this point on, all numbers will be transcribed as times and dates. All times were given in game in military format and remain so in this document.

Numerous members of the FalloutWiki message board began looking over the messages to see what else we could learn. We quickly found that most of the dates were after the game had been released, yet oddly some were from the past. “22:15 April 15, 1865 He’s dead and blame will probably be placed on that actor, Booth. Johnson better not cheat me out of the payment.”  This shed new doubt on the official version of the Lincoln assassination.

As the community quickly started piling up interpretations of the messages, the mods of the site summarily banned everyone who had posted in, or even read the thread. All reference to the numbers station was removed from FalloutWiki and filtering software was put in place to prevent reposting of any relevant information. A few people, however, are trading emails and slowly finishing the translation of the remaining messages and putting dates to the existing ones.

The moving statues phenomenon occurred during the summer of 1985 in Ireland, where statues of the Virgin Mary were reported to move spontaneously.

In Ballinspittle, County Cork in July 1985, an observer claimed to have seen a roadside statue of the Virgin Mary move spontaneously. Similar occurrences were reported shortly afterward inMount Melleray, County Waterford and at around 30 other locations around the country. They were not all Marian apparitions. Some involved other divine figures and/or saints who appeared in stains on Church walls etc. Thousands gathered at many of the sites out of curiosity or to gaze in wonder and to pray. Up to 100,000 were said to have visited the Ballinspittle site alone. The Catholic Church remained reticent or highly skeptical and a bishop declared the whole phenomenon ‘an illusion’.

 The Ballinspittle statue was damaged by a gang of hammer-wielding Pentecostalist protesters against idolatry (or mariolatry), but it was repaired. In 2002 the BBC planned a documentary on the phenomenon.
